Restored
1860's miner's cottage in a small village nestled beneath its own
mountain and surrounded by the beautiful Snowdonia National Park
scenery.
The
cottage is situated in the historic village of Dinas Mawddwy which
lies in the Dyfi valley. The nearest town is Dolgellau.
Ground
floor: Lounge/dining room, kitchen
First
floor: 1 double bedroom, bathroom with shower over bath and heated
towel rail.
Second
floor: 1 twin bedded-room, second lounge.
Services:
Log burner, night storage heaters, electric cooker, fridge, washer,
microwave, colour TV/video player, radio/CD.
Duvets,
pillows, sheets and blankets provided. Please note: Towels are NOT
supplied. An initial supply of logs is provided.

a short walk of the cottage:

Landscaped gardens in the Plas being restored
Meirion Mill tourist attraction with gift shop on the site of former
Minllyn railway terminus, and short landscaped walk to King Arthur’s
stone.
Within
45 minutes walk:
The
old coach road from Minllyn to Machynlleth from the War Memorial
to
Aberangell
passing waterfall and site of King Arthur’s last battle, then
crossing the pack horse bridge to village shop and filling station
at Mallwyd. Valley walk crossing footbridge on Dinas Mawddwy common
and continuing along other side of River Dyfi to Minllyn village.
Mountain walk above the village to old slate workings and inclined
plane railway. Village churches at Mallwyd and Aberangell. There
are numerous walks directly from the property—maps provided

Dolgellau
area, within 15 minutes drive:
Start
of routes from Cader Road, Dolgellau, passing Gwernol lake alongside
Cadair Idris and following gated road to coastline.
Walk
or cycle along metalled trackbed of
disused railway line from Dolgellau to
Barmouth.
Lake Vyrnwy area—From Dinas Mawddwy travel over the highest
mountain road pass in Wales over the Bwylch forking right at the
summit for Lake Vyrnwy, of left for descent to Bala lake.
Within
20/30 minute drive:
Barmouth—Drive
alongside the beautiful Mawddach estuary to this old Edwardian town,
a favourite for the poet Ruskin, with many of its houses high above
the cliffside. Leisure centre, small amusement park, quaint harbourside
cafes, and fishing trips.
Aberdovey with its beautiful harbour, lovely sandy beach, championship
golf course, sea fishing and excellent restaurants.
Centre for Alternative Technology on the Machynlleth road, after
passing through Corris.
Corris craft centre and King Arthur’s Labyrinth (underground
journey through caves in boats).
Fairbourne, with a narrow gauge railway, nature centre, par 3 golf
course, and ferry to Barmouth (main season).
Machynlleth—a popular street market town (Wednesdays), with
leisure centre with
swimming pool and water slide, Tabernacle modern art museum and
theatre, shops and pubs.
