Traditional
1860's stone cottage in a small village surrounded by the beautiful
Snowdonia National Park scenery.
The
cottage is situated in the village of Abergynolwyn which lies in
the Dysynni valley. The nearest town is the coastal resort of Tywyn.
Ground
floor: Lounge, dining room, kitchen, 1 double bedroom,
bathroom with shower over the bath.
First
floor: 2 connecting bedrooms, each with 2 single beds.
Services:
Open coal fire, oil filled radiators, electric cooker, fridge, dishwasher,
washer/dryer, microwave, LCD colour TV, DVD player/recorder, radio/CD,
payphone.
Bed linen and tea towels are provided, but please remember to bring
your own towels.
Off
road parking at rear.
Secluded front garden—ideal for BBQs.
No smoking.

Within
a short walk of the cottage:
16th century pub with restaurant, real ale and good
food.
Children’s play area.
Talyllyn steam narrow gauge railway station.
Village hall with post office and café.
Within
45 minutes walk:
The ruined Welsh castle ‘Castell y Bere’,
Mary Jones cottage, Church at Llanfihangel-y-Pennant (with Mary
Jones exhibition). Just a little further away is the deserted village
at Bryn-Eglwys.
There are numerous walks directly from the property—maps provided!
Abergynolwyn
area, within 15 minutes drive:
Talyllyn lake—220 acres with salmon, brown
trout and sea trout—(permits from Tyn-Y-Cornel Hotel).
Start of routes up Cadair Idris.
Dolgoch Falls—good walks along waterfalls, with access to
Dolgoch falls steam railway station.
Tywyn—sea front with sandy beaches, play area,
paddling pool, putting green, crazy golf, tennis courts, leisure
centre with indoor swimming pool, Talyllyn steam railway terminus
with new narrow gauge museum, opened by Prince Charles.
St. Cadfan’s church (which has the oldest example of written
Welsh in existence).
Cambrian main line railway which offers a superb trip hugging the
coast.
The town also has a good choice of small shops, tea rooms, pubs
and cinema. There is a popular market held on Mondays (May to September).
Within
20/30 minute drive:
Aberdovey with its beautiful harbour, lovely sandy
beach, championship golf course, sea fishing and excellent restaurants.
Centre for Alternative Technology on the Machynlleth road, after
passing through Corris.
Corris craft centre and King Arthur’s Labyrinth (underground
journey through caves in boats).
Fairbourne, with a narrow gauge railway, nature centre, par 3 golf
course, and ferry to Barmouth (main season).
Machynlleth—a popular street market town (Wednesdays), with
leisure centre with swimming pool and water slide, Tabernacle modern
art museum and theatre, shops and pubs.

There are excellent walks around the picturesque Dolgoch Falls,
plus a steam railway passing by.

The Abergynolwyn Angel stands outside the new village hall, which
incorporates a cafe and patio area, with magnificent views.
